Yahoo today announced the appointment of Brooke Siegel as vice president of content for Yahoo News, the leading news and information platform in the U.S. with over 185 million monthly visitors.

Siegel will lead the Yahoo News global editorial and curation teams. She will be responsible for the property’s original reporting strategy and evolving content curation as well as all audience growth initiatives in newsletters, social media and visual journalism across Yahoo News products, including the new Yahoo News app. She will report to Kat Downs Mulder, SVP and general manager of Yahoo News.

Mulder said: “Our goal at Yahoo News is to be a trusted guide for users through content from hundreds of trusted publishers. Brooke’s expertise in digital media and her proven track record in driving growth will add tremendous value as we continue to accelerate our product and content curation for Yahoo News readers.”

Prior to joining Yahoo, Siegel spent nearly a decade at Hearst Magazines where she most recently served as senior vice president of content, overseeing editorial strategy and operations for 20+ brands and publications. During her tenure, she built and managed the data and insights department, driving significant growth in audience and engagement across digital and video.

Prior to her tenure at Hearst, she was editor-in-chief at DailyWorth, a media company focused on women’s personal finances. Previously, she worked as an editor at Google, as well as several digital start-ups, including DailyCandy and Punch! Media.

Yahoo News launched its new mobile app last month.  It offers a more personalized experience to stay informed on what matters most within the news landscape, with AI-powered features like a customizable news feed, key takeaways of articles and top stories, and the ability to mark headlines as clickbait. Yahoo.com also unveiled a new and more dynamic homepage experience.
